Android-powered Kogan Agora meets Mr. Blurrycam on way to CES debut

This is one situation where we're absolutely delighted to be proven wrong. Kogan's homegrown Android handset just got pictured in the wild -- the first time we've seen anything but a render -- on its way to a supposed CES debut. Rest assured: if it's really going to be meandering around Vegas this week, we emwill/em hunt it down.pFiled under: a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag"Cellphones/a, a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag"Handhelds/a/pp style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/05/android-powered-kogan-agora-meets-mr-blurrycam-on-way-to-ces-de/"Android-powered Kogan Agora meets Mr. Blurrycam on way to CES debut/a originally appeared on a href="http://www.engadget.com"Engadget/a on Mon, 05 Jan 2009 22:42:00 EST. T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Curve 8900 seemingly pegged for February 11

Moving a launch emup/em, though -- well, that's a totally different ball game, and it always brings a smile to our faces. Word on the street had been that T-Mobile USA would take delivery of the luscious new Curve 8900 a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/12/30/shadow-ii-curve-8900-samsung-memoir-due-in-coming-weeks-on-t-m/"come February 18/a, but now we're hearing it's actually coming a week earlier on February 11, just in time to stuff RIM's latest hardware in your loved one's box of chocolates, bouquet, or gift basket of sundry sausages, cheeses, and jams. 'Course, WiFi and 3.2-megapixel cam might be enough to get you to dump your life partner flat on his / her / its ass, so don't blame us if this thing wrecks your otherwise happy home.br /br /[Via a href="http://www.phonedog.com/cell-phone-research/blog/blackberry-curve-8900-specs-now-t-mobile-launch-on-february-11.aspx"PhoneDog.com/a]pFiled under: a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag"Cellphones/a, a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag"Handhelds/a/pp style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/05/t-mobiles-blackberry-curve-8900-seemingly-pegged-for-february-1/"T-Mobile's BlackBerry Curve 8900 seemingly pegged for February 11/a originally appeared on a href="http://www.engadget.com"Engadget/a on Mon, 05 Jan 2009 17:01:00 EST. iPhone 3G unlock revised, now with less beta

Oh, but don't just pick it up from some random street vendor -- do it up right by swinging on over to Meizu's shiny new flagship store, where you'll be able to select your M8 (or at least see renders of the M8) in a comfortable, relaxed environment while rubbing shoulders with Meizu employees. The fresh digs just opened today, and pictures from the grand opening show an epic mass of humanity waiting for the doors to unlock -- a promising sign for Meizu, and an unfortunate sign that the enochlophobes among us probably ought to wait a few weeks to make the trek.br /br /[Via a href="http://www.meizume.com/meizu-news/7678-meizu-opens-flagship-store.html"Meizu Me/a]pFiled under: a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag"Cellphones/a, a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag"Handhelds/a/pp style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/01/meizu-opens-flagship-store-in-shenzen/"Meizu opens flagship store in Shenzhen/a originally appeared on a href="http://www.engadget.com"Engadget/a on Thu, 01 Jan 2009 23:58:00 EST. Sprint’s pink Instinct shows up on Best Buy’s site for outrageous price

HTC believes Cupcake will come to the T-Mobile G1

div align="center"img hspace="4" border="1" vspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/12/12-21-08-cupcake-keyboard.jpg" alt="" /br //div We've already seen it go down a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/12/22/cupcakes-on-screen-keyboard-shown-on-t-mobile-g1/"unofficially/a, but we've received word from HTC today that Android's coveted a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/cupcake""Cupcake"/a branch of updates and fixes -- or at least a majority of it -- will likely be making it to the a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/G1/"G1/a in the future as a legitimate over-the-air push. HTC isn't involved in deciding what updates get pushed to the G1 or when, but given the update cadence so far and the G1's support for Cupcake's capabilities, the company believes that it's just a matter of time before T-Mobile makes it happen. The timing is still a big question -- HTC's more or less out of the loop on the schedule, and it's up to Google and T-Mobile to figure out how it's going to play out. We'll keep you updated as we find out more!br /br /strongUpdate:/strong We pressed HTC spokespeople to give us a little more to go on, but got the standard "we can't comment on rumors or speculation" line. In fact, it's emso/em hardcore -- arguably the most powerful S60 phone ever released -- that it seemed like a forgone conclusion from day one that we wouldn't be seeing it in North America (yeah, we're jaded like that). In brief, a emHoFo/em poster has thrown up what appear to be slides from a Rogers event detailing the carrier's release plans for the better part of 2009, and seriously, if you name a badass handset, odds are it's here. Samsung will apparently be bringing the 8.1-megapixel a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Pixon/"Pixon/a, for starters, and Sony Ericsson will be throwing its name into the huge-cam hat with the a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/C905/"C905/a. Turning our attention to Windows Mobile, the a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/X1/"X1/a is scheduled for release "around August if not sooner," Motorola brings the lowly a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Q11/"Q11/a, and HTC adds the a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/TouchPro/"Touch Pro/a, the a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/TouchViva/"Touch Viva/a (an unusual choice considering HTC's intention to send it to emerging markets), and possibly the a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Touch3G/"Touch 3G/a. Nokia will be offering the a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/5800"5800 XpressMusic/a in the middle part of the year, Moto will be bringing a pair of 5-megapixel phones in the a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/VE66/"VE66/a and a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/ZN5/"ZN5/a, and finally, it seems RIM is signed up to bring the all-GSM 9520 a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Storm/"Storm/a with WiFi -- a feature sorely missing from the Verizon and Vodafone versions -- and a 3G remix of the a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/8220"8200 Pearl series/a flip that'll have a front-facing cam for video calling (yeah, no joke, they offer it up there). So look, ATamp;T, you have two options here: either crib off this presentation and make it happen, or we hope you get bought by Rogers. Your choice.br /br /[Via a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fes.engadget.com%2F2008%2F12%2F25%2Fanuncian-la-blackberry-storm-9520-con-wifi-para-rogers-en-canada%2F"Engadget Spanish/a]pFiled under: a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag"Cellphones/a, a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag"Handhelds/a/pp style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/25/leaked-rogers-slides-make-us-want-to-move-to-canada/"Leaked Rogers slides make us want to move to Canada/a originally appeared on a href="http://www.engadget.com"Engadget/a on Thu, 25 Dec 2008 13:22:00 EST. The gigahertz Centro, also known as ‘the Palm-powered grenade’

div align="center"img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/12/overclocked-centro.jpg" alt="" /br //div Personally, we wouldn't want to be within 15 feet of a a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Centro/"Centro/a being mercilessly overclocked to a mind-numbing 936MHz, but we reckon that's where our fearless readers come into play. We're told that this sucker reached prompt criticality and melted into the Earth's crust shortly after this screen shot was taken, and you know what? HKC’s Pearl rips a RIM name, an HTC design, and a pair of OSes

div align="center"img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/cn.engadget.com/media/2008/12/engadget_icebin_mini_hkc_pearl_dsc_0012.jpg" alt="" /br //div Goodness, we can already tell that China is going to be a frigging goldmine of weird and wild Android hardware for a long, long time to come. First we had the QiGi i6, which boasted compatibility both with Android and WinMo -- and it's looking like this might be a surprisingly common feature for some of these Chinese devices now that we have another doing the same thing. The HKC Pearl looks suspiciously like a a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/06/05/htcs-touch-with-touchflo-the-elf-with-new-3d-sweep-interface/"first-gen HTC Touch/a -- and nothing like its a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/pearl"namesake/a, may we add -- working with a 2.8-inch QVGA display, 256MB of ROM, 128MB of RAM, WiFi, and a 2-megapixel cam to back up its Google- and Microsoft-provided loads. As with the QiGi, the odds of seeing this one outside Asia are slim at best, but hey, at least our colleagues at Engadget Chinese have scored a hands-on to satisfy our collective curiosities.br /br /a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fcn.engadget.com%2F2008%2F12%2F18%2Fhkc-pearl-wm6-mobile%2F"Read/a - HKC Pearl announcementbr /a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fcn.engadget.com%2F2008%2F12%2F22%2Fhkc-pearl-wm6-android-2%2F"Read/a - Android mode hands-onbr /a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fcn.engadget.com%2F2008%2F12%2F22%2Fhkc-pearl-wm6-android%2F"Read/a - WinMo mode hands-onpFiled under: a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag"Cellphones/a, a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/household/" rel="tag"Household/a/pp style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/24/hkcs-pearl-rips-a-rim-name-an-htc-design-and-a-pair-of-oses/"HKC's Pearl rips a RIM name, an HTC design, and a pair of OSes/a originally appeared on a href="http://www.engadget.com"Engadget/a on Wed, 24 Dec 2008 10:59:00 EST.
